With 23 years of experience in the water sector, DIOGO Faria de OLIVEIRA, Portuguese, independent water expert, is the Founder and Executive Director of Defining Future Options.

At UNECE - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, he is member of the Team of Specialists for the International Standards for Public-Private Partnerships on Water Supply and Sanitation and Team Leader for the International Standards for Public-Private Partnerships on Water Management and Flood Control.

At the Portuguese Ministry of Environment, he is President of the Management and Support Team of the National Strategic Water and Sanitation Plan 2020 (Grupo de Apoio à Gestão do PENSAAR 2020).

He is also Member of the National Water Council, (CNA), and President of the Advisory Board of the Portuguese Association of Environment Companies’, (AEPSA).

Previously, Diogo worked at AdP - Águas de Portugal, SGPS, S.A., (between 1993 and 2008), and from 2001 to 2015 , Diogo was Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors of AQUAPOR Serviços, S.A.

He was also Chairman of ten AQUAPOR concession (PPPs) companies’.

Also, he was Member of the Board Advisory Council of the Portuguese Water Regulator, (ERSAR), between 2010 and 2015.

Diogo has a degree in Civil Engineering, with expertise in hydraulics, water resources and environment (IST, Lisbon, 1993), and courses in "Improving the Efficiency and Reliability in Water Distribution Systems”, Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, (Spain, 1994), "Executive Management Program", Stanford University, (USA, 2006), “Business and Sustainability Programme”, University of Cambridge, (UK, 2014), among others.
